Obituary
She saw a hand we could not see that called her away. She heard a voice we could not hear that would not let her stay.

Mrs. Bobbye Jean (Loyd) Pegues was the youngest born to the union of Wade and Ella Loyd on December 2, 1932, in Longview, Texas. She united with Bethel Baptist Church at an early age and served faithfully until she was called home to rest.

She attended and graduated from Longview Colored High School. She began her career as a successful businesswoman by paving the way as the first black saleswoman at the famous department store, Fedways in Longview. While residing in Austin, she was a top-selling realtor. She has been an entrepreneur for most of her adult life. She was the co-owner of Will’s Rib Rack in Austin and Pegues Adult Foster Care in Longview.

She entered eternal life peacefully on Friday, January 7, 2022, at home with her son, Tony, and daughter-in-law, Shirley.
Bobbye Jean was preceded in death by her parents Wade and Ella Loyd, her loving aunt Emma Stokes, her sisters Mardrell Barnes, Dorothy Waterhouse, Erma Broughton, Eloise Wilson, and one brother, Eli Fisher.

Bobbye Jean Pegues leaves to rejoice her homegoing her son, Tony Allen Powell and his wife, Shirley (Madden) of Longview; two grandchildren Choya (Powell) Morrison and husband Kavanski of Anna, Texas; Anthony Powell of Gladewater, Texas; five great-grandchildren: Daylon Powell, Shamariya Powell, Ckia Morrison, Zaidyn Morrison and Zaiya Powell; one sister Dorothy Walker of Longview, Texas; a special niece Deborah Nalls of Longview, Texas, a special nephew Jessie B. Williams, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
